The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) will very likely have enough sensitivity to measure the 3D tomographic 21 cm images from the epoch of reionization. I report in this talk our recent progresses in developing new methods to exploit the information of 3D 21 cm images. (1) We perform a Bayesian inference of the reionization parameters where the likelihood is implicitly defined through forward simulations using density estimation likelihood-free inference (DELFI). We adopt a trained 3D Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to compress the 3D image data into informative summaries (DELFI-3D CNN). We show that this method recovers accurate posterior distributions for the reionization parameters. (2) We propose to extract the antisymmetric part of two-point cross-correlation between intensity maps of the H I 21 cm line and the CO 2.61 mm line, and show that the HI-CO dipole may be a "standard speedometer" for cosmic reionization. Observations of this new signal will unveil the global reionization history from the midpoint to near the completion of reionization.

Yi Mao obtained his Bachelor in physics at Peking University, and Ph.D. in physics at MIT in 2008. He was a postdoc at the University of Texas at Austin and later as a Lagrange postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Astrophysics at Paris (IAP). In 2015, he joined the Tsinghua University and is now an associate professor there. Prof. Yi Mao works mainly on the cosmic dawn and reionization, and their probes such as the 21 cm line. He is involved with the international collaboration of SKA. His main research tool is theoretical modeling, numerical and seminumerical simulations, and data analysis with machine learning techniques.
